9 May, Speaker Tim Turner of Sworders, The History of Auctions and Auctioneering

During the summer we plan to visit Bush End Church and the Shell House in Hatfield Forest.

Apart from the speakers our other activities include:

Several new books have been published in the last year;

Takeley School 1840 - 1965 by Bill Marshall
Mole Hill Green Cricket Club by Pat Salmon
In the Service of Their Country Takeley's Service People of WWII  Volume 2 by Bill Marshall & Pat Salmon
The Royal British Legion Takeley Branch by Bill Marshall

We now have 16 titles for sale and several more in the pipeline. We have sold over 1200 booklets so far. The next booklet to be brought out will be on Takeley Street.

Since this meeting last year we have completed the recording of the memorials in the churchyard.

We have also transcribed all the baptisms, marriages and burials for Takeley Chapel and these are available on the website. Work also continues to transcribe old Wills of Takeley people and these are gradually being added to the website.

We still receive emails from around the world from people interested in Takeley and tracing their Takeley families.
